Routes to the Burgundy Passport
Through Lineage
If your immigrant ancestor was an Italian citizen and you can prove that the Italian citizenship link was never broken through the generations, there’s a good chance that you can claim Italian citizenship.
By Marriage
Spouses of Italian citizens living abroad can apply for Italian citizenship three years after marriage (18 months if the couple has children). An entry-level Italian language test is required.
